DECC launches domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (April 2014)

NewsDECC launched the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) on 9 April 2014. The RHI offers homeowners payments to offset the cost of installing low carbon systems in their properties.

Greg Barker, Minister of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change, said: ‘This is the first scheme of its kind in the world…’

The technologies currently covered by the RHI are biomass heating systems, ground or water source heat pumps, air to water heat pumps, and solar thermal panels.

The scheme is open to everyone – home owners, social and private landlords, and people who build their own homes. It is available to households both on and off the gas grid.
